Stick Insect

While cutting down the Banksia Rose which covered the old trellis fence, we found this gorgeous Stick Insect.  We let it go into a section of the Banksia Rose which we are retaining.

The Sick Insect was fast moving and crawling all over Richard’s hand, trying to find a way down. We didn’t handle it for long. After taking a couple of photos we took pity and released it.

The ungainly legs are surprisingly agile and allow the stick insect to proceed in any direction, including over the edge of a hand to hang upside down beneath it.
