Frilly Fungi

Frilly Fungi

We’ve just noticed a group of large fungi growing in a quiet spot.

I don’t have a field guide to Fungi, and the online information sites seem to assume that I know what I am looking for –  and I don’t.   So, unfortunately, I can’t tell you anything about it. If you do know what it is, please leave a comment. We would love to know a few basic facts.

This ruler is 30 cm long, which gives you some idea of the size of the fungi. There are two more of equal size nearby.

In this photo you can see that the underside of the fungus is white.

    1. Thank you. It’s great to get a name for this one!

I’m just about to post a few photos I’ve taken of unidentified fungi in the last couple of weeks. These are much smaller, and various shades of red, orange and yellow. Lisa

Let me know what you think!
