Wood Duck Family

A taste of Spring

While the weather here is cold enough to keep the wood fire burning, it doesn’t seem to have stopped the birds from getting into the swing of Spring.   When I walked around our boundary fence yesterday, I could hear baby magpies, and was swooped by adult magpies. From the safety of the house, I could see the galahs checking out nesting hollows, and the Wood Ducks introduced their brood of 11 ducklings to the grassy slope  leading from the house to the dam.

This is a case where photos speak louder than words.   Click on any photo to see it full sized.
