Frog Lunch for this White Necked Heron

Just as well the Banjo Frogs were spawning last month. Looks like the White Necked Herons like to feed on them. We had a pair of Herons in the same place on the dam three days in a row…. this one got a good catch. The poor frog had no chance of escape and was gulped down after being rotated to be swallowed head first.

I don’t have a powerful lens to capture the details, but my friend Carol was with me and she does have a lens capable of capturing the entire meal. She is also an excellent bird photographer. If you want to see Carol’s amazing photos of this, check out her Facebook page.
