The Ballet of the Australian Wood Ducks

After the hot weather we received last week came s few storms.  A dead tree was close enough to our house that, if was uprooted, it may crush the decking and lounge room, so we took preventative action and cut it down.  The Australian Wood Ducks seem to have adopted the trunk as a stage from where they can survey the territory and generally show off their beautiful form.

As I was flicking through the photos I took, trying to select which ones to load up, I couldn’t help noticing that the sequence had some balletic elements – complete with pirouettes on one leg!

Enjoy the gallery – and if you are looking at this in an email, click on each photo to see them full size, or for the full effect  come to the website and scroll through the full size images in the gallery.
